Our cottolin and wild silk blend is well loved by our customers! Perfect from newborn to toddler, this is a versatile blend which is a great option for those new to wrapping. Easy to tighten with a good amount of grip & glide this soft blend is a natural all-rounder.
Soft and strong organic combed cotton is mixed with a hint of linen in the warp, this adds a delicate strength while maintaining the malleability and drape of the cotton. Wild silk is naturally breathable and strong with little bulk. The gorgeous mouldability of this blend allows pass to glide and knot easily, with a good grip meaning it stays in place with little sag even when carrying bigger kids.

Soft Touch Finishing is now applied to all our wraps, new releases will have gone through a special, eco-friendly washing and drying process meaning they come almost fully broken in straight from the bag.

Wrapping Qualities:
Cush: This wrap has medium cush from the wild silk especially.
Softness: Broken in, this wrap was very soft and snuggly.
Malleability/Drape: This wrap has great drape! It effortlessly pours over and makes wrapping so easy.
Strength: The cotton with a touch of linen makes this wrap strong enough for a toddler in most carries and for a preschooler in multipass carries. It was also strong enough to give me support carrying my 22lb toddler on my 5 month pregnant belly.
Grip & Glide: This wrap has that great bandage-y feel to it when you wrap. The passes glide easily and get nice and snug. The Roses pattern has one of my favorite grips because it holds tight but doesn't require a workout to readjust or loosen.
Stretch: This wrap has enough stretch to get that snug feeling while wrapping, but not so much that it sags and loses support.
Time to break in (estimated): Mine was already broken in, but I imagine this blend breaks in quickly in a couple weeks with good use.

I love this blend for a base -2 through a base size wrap. It's strong and cushy enough for single pass carries to stay comfortable but also airy enough for multipass carries to not overwhelm the wrapper.

While it's thin and floppy enough for a newborn, and strong enough for a preschooler with multiple passes, I think it shines best as a wrap for infants through toddlers in a variety of carries.

I prefer the cottolin wild silk blend to the cottolin tussah silk such as in Sekai Hanalei. Wild silk seems to soften more and have the added cush that is missing from tussah. It also has more glide to me.

Wrappee Age(s):15 months, 3 years and 5 years Which carries worked well & which didn't?:Our go to carry is a Ruck with knot-less finish but I do the occasional Kangaroo Carry and Half Jordan with it.
Wrapping Qualities:
Cush: This wrap doesn't have much cush (when compared to my other ones). However it is not an issue as other WQ make up for it.
Softness: It did arrive a little stiff but within one week of regular usage, it was feeling much better. 8 months later, this wrap is SUPER soft.
Malleability/Drape: This wrap has amazing malleability. It is so easy to wrap with it and get a good, solid tight job. It's like a thin strong bandage! The malleability makes up for the cush. I can get a solid wrap job done even with my 5 years old. I recommend this wrap to new wrapper as it is VERY easy to wrap with.
Strength: This wrap has great strength (I didn't realize it at first as it feels quite thin in hand). I had made it a habit to use Okinami Morgan hemp with both my toddler for greater support but now that I have tried cottolin/wild silk with them, I realize it is more comfortable and shows the same amount of support! (with the added bonus of being easier to wrap with, having better drape)
Grip & Glide: Compare to most of my wrap I would say this has a good amount of grip and nice glide. It is less slippery than my linen/tencel blend (Flora Blossom). Once you tight it, it doesn't need any readjustment. (Even after an hour walk with a 5 year old on your back)
Stretch: I HATE stretch in my wraps. Well this wrap has none. Makes me very happy. I know some people do like stretch though. But this is perfect for us.
Time to break in (estimated): 1 week of regular use made it nice to wrap in (no "breaking in" activities). Now 8 months later, this wrap is kitten belly soft.

Someone who wants to invest in the perfect newborn to toddler wrap. I also find it very breathable in summer (40+++ degree) BUT I LOVED this wrap all winter (Canadian winter) as the WQ made it the perfect wrap to use OVER bulky and very slippery snowsuits. It was the only wrap I actually manage a decent wrapping job in over snowsuits. People wouldn't think of it as a great blend for winter but honestly it was the best on winter hikes.

I have Katican abyss which is a cotton/wild silk blend. I do love the cush that wrap has. I would be very interested in seeing what a cottolin/wild silk wrap would feel like if it could just have a little more cush.

Wrappee Age(s): Which carries worked well & which didn't?:All works well. It's so easy to wrap with. I have a high fail rate for DH but with Lahaina, I just nail it every time. My favourites carries are FCC, FWCC, DH, Rucks.
Wrapping Qualities:
Cush: Not much. But it's not diggy.
Softness: It's so soft once broken in.
Malleability/Drape: It drapes so well, it wraps itself. Easy to tighten.
Strength: Thin and strong, yet not diggy. Hard to find thin wraps like this.
Grip & Glide: Grip and glide are just nice. Not too much. Not too slippery.
Stretch: No stretch. But it's good for heavy babies.
Time to break in (estimated): In 3rd wash. Roughly 3 weeks of use.. I washed once a week.

Which carries worked well & which didn't?: I started with a Ruck with a Candy Cane chest belt with my tiny baby in a size 3. It worked very well and stayed put. As she's gotten older, I'm now doing a No Sew Ring Sling or Traditional Carry with it. It's quite thin and I've traded my size 3 for a size 2. I could do multilayer carries with a size 3 as an older baby and it was comfy and very strong. I preferred it to a cotton/linen or cotton/silk blend

Cush: Not much cush
Softness: Very soft
Malleability/Drape: Very drapey once broken in
Strength: Excellent strength, more so than duo-blends
Grip & Glide: Excellent! Wrap doesn't budge once in place but glides into place easily without getting caught on itself
Stretch: Does not stretch or sag
Time to break in (estimated): The silk makes it quicker to break in. Mine came already loved and broken in, but I'd estimate it to be fairly quick if worn frequently.

Squish to toddler, depending on size. I'd prefer it in a longer size for toddler wearing but it works for quick ups for toddlers in a shorty.

I have bought Roses Vanilla Tri-blend twice because I love the blend. I love most tri-blends, but this one is so delicate yet so strong and soft.

Which carries worked well & which didn't?: FWCC, FCC and DH work the best for me. I can ruck in them for short periods like 10-15 minutes but I typically don't use any wraps I have in single layers for more than a few minutes. It's not comfortable for me and I've tried a lot of blends!
Wrapping Qualities:
Cush: Very little cush. Andaluz has a little more than Starry Night but not much. I prefer my wraps this way. Too much cush (for me) translates to too much bulk and dig, even in very soft blends like wool.
Softness: Medium softness. Exactly the way I like it. Very scratchy when new though!
Malleability/Drape: Excellent malleability and drape!
Strength: Very strong but not so much as to remove all stretch.
Grip & Glide: Since both are star patterns they are VERY grippy. They are much better broken in, but they still do not have fantastic glide. I work through it because I love them!
Stretch: The perfect amount of stretch. Not so much that they sag but just enough recoil to prevent it from it from being too restrictive and dense.
Time to break in (estimated): A few weeks of regular use, irons and ring runs.

I used to think this was the best blend out there because I love my Nyx and Amera so much, but the longer I wrap, the more I think that the linen doesn't add much to the WQ. I love my Okinami Wipeout and Misty Mountains Aduial equally as much and they don't have any linen in them. They are equally as strong as my cotlin/wild silk blends. It's the wild silk in these that makes them shine, not the linen.
