Our first release of this instantly iconic Lonely Mountain pattern is woven in a three colour hybrid weave and is inspired by vintage storybook illustrations. The hybrid weave allows our weavers to use three colours, ecru, black and green, to create a magical array of tones across this intricately woven cloth. In order to bring depth to this illustrative pattern, our weave designer has used different textures throughout the pattern making this wrap lovely and tactile, but also offering visual variety across the different aspects of the design.

The Lonely Mountain, or Erebor, the Dwarven kingdom which was home to the exiled members of King Durin's folk, led by the King Under the Mountain, Thrór, until the attack and occupation by the dragon Smaug. This towering mountain is quest's end for Thorin Oakenshield and company, along with Bilbo Baggins, in their efforts to reclaim the kingdom for their people in The Hobbit™.

The runes read "Five feet high the door and three may walk abreast Th. Th." echoing the description of the Black Door on Thorin's map. Th. Th. refers to Thrór and Thrain, Thorin's father and grandfather, who drew the map which leads the company to Smaug's lair. Nearby Smaug circles the mountain containing his hoard, while the banners proclaim the name of the mountain in flowing script.

Fans of The Hobbit will recognise the inspiration for this new Middle-earth Collection baby carrier. We looked carefully at the author's illustrative style, as well as at the ancient maps, to create an entirely new hand-drawn design.

As always, pattern placement on a baby sling (i.e. what you will see when the sling is on) and how the pattern will repeat are an integral part of creating any new design. We took care to ensure that every section of this design will look special when in use.

This very first release, Lonely Mountain Lair, will be released in 100% BCI organic cotton. By using BCI cotton we ensure that our cotton meets the Better Cotton Initiative's high standards of environmental, economic and social responsibility. Our BCI cotton is also organic, meaning it is grown with care and without chemicals keeping the land, and farmers, healthy.

This wrap is soft and breathable with a wonderful support. This beautiful baby wrap is a great all-rounder and will be perfect for little ones through to toddlerhood and beyond.
