The Grey Havens is a place of farewell in The Lord of the Rings, where Elves and weary travelers set sail for Valinor, the Undying Lands. This moment marks both an ending and a new beginning, as they leave Middle-earth behind for a place of peace.
Our woven design captures this journey with detailed imagery. The harbour’s elegant Elven towers overlook the sea, where ships wait to depart. Their curved forms reflect Elven craftsmanship, and the ocean stretches beyond, leading them onto the ‘Straight Road’—the path that carries them beyond the mortal world to Valinor.
Bilbo’s farewell song reflects the emotion of this moment:
"Day is ended, dim my eyes, but journey long before me lies.
Farewell, friends! I hear the call, the ship’s beside the stony wall."
This design honours Tolkien’s storytelling, depicting the beauty and significance of this final journey. Whether worn or displayed, it serves as a reminder of departures, memories, and the world that lies beyond.
